I respected him as a coach at Georgetown.

When he retired there and got a gig with one of the DC sports talk radio. I got a chance to listen to him and his stories about being a kid, signed by Red Auberbach, playing in the Bill Russell era.

He didnt negotiate hard with Georgetown over salary. But, he was them to put somebody on staff to oversee the players, making sure they did their assignments. He said he knew most of them wouldnt have careers in the NBA, and that an education was essential for their longterm survival.

He loved Allen Iverson, but he didnt let him break the rules, and held him accountable when he played for him. He tried to mentor him after Allen left Georgetown too.
