Does anyone here ski? Already planning our weekend trip to Wisp in January and I'm hoping to make it up there and a couple other places this year.

I'm a very casual skier (1-2 times a year) but want to get in to it more and am considering buying some used equipment before this season. I'm by no means elite (but do fine on blue's and can do black's after a few runs) but I'd say I'm above average on the slopes.

Do any BSLers have any feedback/knowledge that they could pass on along to me - where to buy used, brand recommendations, etc.?

Baltimore Ski Warehouse near BWI is a solid place to get used gear.  I think I got used skis, bindings, and boots for about $200 a couple years ago.  No brand recommendations, but the people there are pretty honest and helpful if you explain your level and how often you go.  They likely won't oversell you.

Sounds like I'm a similar level skiier as you.  I mostly go down the black diamonds now unless my friends want to stick to the blues.  Most outings I can avoid falling throughout the day, but still take spills on occasion.  I am not so advanced that they are a breeze or that I can do fancy stuff like moguls or tricks.  And I don't look very good doing it, I didn't learn until I was in college so my form is a mess.

Wisp is my typical destination.  Didn't get out there last year.

Thanks for the info, Mackus. Sounds like we're pretty similar. I considered the buying route just because if I continue with an annual (or two) ski trips, it probably just makes sense to buy own. Good to know about Baltimore Ski Warehouse - I'll check them out.
