After a close loss to Michigan State on Tuesday night, Maryland returns home to face off against Penn State for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions currently hold a record of 14-10 (5-8), and have lost each of their last three games. Micah Shrewsberry's team has already matched their overall win total from the 2021-22 season, but have a tough road ahead of them with four of their last seven games coming on the road.
While Penn State has struggled defensively all year, they have the ability to score in bunches. The experienced trio of Jalen Pickett, Seth Lundy, and Andrew Funk lead them, combining to account for nearly 2/3rds of their offensive output. Pickett is a beast, averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. Lundy averages 15 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 45% from beyond the arc. They're an extremely small team, and Lundy is their biggest starter at 6'6". They do have 6'10" Kebba Njie, but he's averaging just 14 minutes per game off the bench.
Maryland has struggled a bit against Penn State over the last five years, losing five of their eight matchups.
