Internal candidates:

TE Coach George Godsey

One of the better units on this team. 12 years in the NFL. Held OC positions twice. 2015-16 with Houston and 2021 was Co-OC in Miami. Did his playing as a QB for Georgia Tech from 1997-2001 with one Ralph Friedgen as his OC until 2001. Other than being on staff for this, his first season, no ties to Harbaugh otherwise.

QB Coach James Urban

Has been the QB Coach here as long as Lamar Jackson has been here. 18 years total in the NFL. Worked on the same staff as Harbaugh for four years in Philly.

External candidates:

Matt Weiss, Co-Offensive Coordinator, Michigan

Under investigation for "computer access crimes". We'll see what level of severity that ends up being. if nothing, Weiss Had spent 11 years on the Ravens staff in a variety of roles, including assistant QBs coach, assistant WRs coach, and RBs coach. Was a GA for Jim at Stanford for two seasons. His offense is based on a power run game that sets up play action passes.

Jay Harbaugh, Special Team Coordinator, Michigan

John's nephew. Was on the Ravens staff as offensive quality control from 2012-2014. At Michigan has also worked with running backs and tight ends form 2015-2021. Safeties in addition to STs in 2022.

Zac Robinson, QB Coach/Pass game coordinator, LA Rams

Young coach, running the ball is integral but modern passing concepts led the Rams to a SB, and historic seasons by Cooper Kupp. Former Pro Football Focus Analyst plays well in Harbaugh's forward thinking side.

Nathaniel Hackett, Former Head Coach, Denver Broncos

Didn't make it through one season as a head coach, but has led prolific rushing offenses at his stops as an OC over the years.

Who else?

Brian Johnson and Joe Brady, who are currently quarterbacks coaches for Philadelphia and Buffalo, respectively.

Hackett seems to fit the mold of what Harbaugh had hired for the position the best.

Makoman (I think) mentioned Mike LaFleur a while back.  Getting fired from the Jets isn't exactly a high point of anyone's career, but he's got the Shanahan connections that seem to be close to what we wanna do.  Jets also were able to run the ball pretty well, at least until Hall went down.

Reich would be top of my list but I've got no expectation of him taking an OC job.  Still, can't hurt to ask.  Probably a short-term thing like Kubiak, but that's a good problem, IMO.

Why not? There are five open HC positions, only four of which is he going to be considered for since he was fired by the Colts. He's interviewed with at least the Cardinals and Panthers so far.

There are plenty young up and coming coordinators out there, plus coordinators like Dan Quinn and Leslie Frazier who have probably earned another shot at HC, not to mention Sean Payton.

I think it's at least a reasonable possibility he isn't hired as a HC this time. There are so many OC openings that I don't know how likely it is he'd come to Baltimore, but I guess he could opt to take a season off too. Plenty of coaches doing that these days.

If he doesn't get a head Coach job I think he takes the year off. Just a guess. Maybe he'd prefer to work as an OC. Hope so.

That would make sense. He'd definitely be a great hire, but probably a long shot.

I did, yeah I want that Shanahan tree. Now I'm on to Bobby Slowik, 49ers passing game coordinator.

These young guys might be risky, but they could also be a home run. I don't want to hit a single with this hire. But Harbs has never hired that kind of OC though, I fear a Marc Trestman type.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'd definitely bring Leftwich in for an interview. He ran a strong passing attack in Tampa and got unjustly fired imo. They were an excellent offense until their line got decimated and Brady got old. Not saying he'd be a slam dunk, but considering the recent success and his feel for the passing game I can't imagine it being a waste of time to give him an opportunity to try for it.

Any "home run" hire is a double edged sword.  If they light the world on fire getting the Ravens back into contention, they would certainly be the next hot head coaching candidate.

That sure beats having a guy that everyone wants fired.

Even better, make it Brian Johnson of the Eagles, then you get draft picks if he becomes a HC. Feels kinda crass saying it, but hey, it's a plus.

I'm not opposed to it. I'd be interviewing people of all types of backgrounds and systems and see who brings the most to the table. I mean, LJ and Dobbins are talented enough runners, do they need a Greg Roman but with higher passing game IQ to succeed in that aspect? Ray Rice put up damn good numbers in Cam Cameron's Coreyll scheme.

90% will call for the new guy to be fired before the calendar turns to '24. Doesnt matter how good he might be one or two poor performances and its all his fault.

You can probably cross Matt Weiss off the list. He was fired today due to the investigation into "computer access crimes."

Would love Reich but expect him to be a.HC. I would absolutely interview people from the Shannahan and McVey trees!

BTW, tried listening to the 2-6 group on the Fan…OMG are they so slanted negatively against the Ravens. JLC clearly has an anti-Ravens agenda and his useless co-host KW has bought into it hook, line and sinker. Unlistenable!

That's fine. I'm good with someone with zero ties to "The Family"
