This is the most like Jim Hunter he's ever sounded.  He's of course not in a position to be particularly critical, so don't really blame him for trying to see any potential reasons for not bringing in particular guys at specific positions.  But the explanation breaks down when you expand it to not adding anyone at any position.  And the "more aggressive than we've seen in the past" argument, while true, is such a low bar its absolutely meaningless.  The 2021 offseason was also more aggressive than we had seen in the past at that point.

Brown is trying to voice the company message, but sorry year 5 and after winning 83 games, it is time to do as much as possible to win.  It has not happened this off season.

My question to Elias and his staunchest backers is if the Orioles fall back to the 70 win, and we wind up sellers at the trade deadline, where does that leave "the plan"?

I've only read Luke Jackson's alignment of that interview (from 28 DEC), maybe I'll listen to the whole thing later and get some additional context to the framing.  Also, I think I've generally liked Kevin Brown to this point.  I don't recall having anything particularly in one direction or another...

....but I have a couple of word thoughts on what he's saying.

Delusional.

Non-sensical.

Clueless.

I'm not in the Correa and Verlander crowd so I'm not beating anyone up for not plowing into the top of the market and there are a handful of comments I generally agree with (again, maybe more if I listened to the whole thing) and am comfortable in defense of...

...but this presentation is awful.  And wrong.  Comically wrong.

I am available for the debate.

It leaves it on track. I've seen zero evidence of trying to win.

Fact: Winning is still not a priority.

There, found it. No further expedition necessary.

My guess is that the plan will be to move Rutschman for even more picks down the road before he hits arbitration.
