He’s one of the top high schoolers to watch for in the 2023 class.

4-star G Jahnathan Lamothe (Baltimore, MD), a Top-50 prospect and the second-best player in the state, has said that the hire of Kevin Willard (and Tony Skinn) have put Maryland in a much better place to land him.
He’s one of the top high schoolers to watch for in the 2023 class.
Nice, hit the local area. The fact that Maryland 21-22 team had only one scholarship player from the state of Maryland is just one of the reasons Turgeon is no longer here.

Your move, Under Armour:
NEW: adidas is launching an NIL network that will be open to every eligible student-athlete at an adidas-partnered D-I school. It will allow athletes to become adidas influencers, essentially. This NIL network has the ability to reach over 50,000 athletes across 23 sports.

Ok. Ok. Any chance at all?
Sounds like Willard and his staff were down in Florida earlier this week meeting with 5-star Baltimore natives Kwame Evans, Jr. (PF - 2023) and Derik Queen (C - 2024).

Was Diamond Stone the only 5-star Turge landed?
Stix was 5-star too

Just for fun, the top 5 recruits of the Turge era based on 247 ranking
1. Stone (5-star)
2. Stix (5-star)
3. Melo (4-star)
4. Roddy Peters (4-star)
5. Wiggins (4-star)

The stretch run his final season, he was explosive. Fun to watch. He’s looked solid at times with the Thunder this year.
40% isn't bad. Obviously Smith and Trimble were hits. Stone and Peters were major disappointments. Wiggins was good but never lived up to the hype consistently.

I wouldn't call Stone a major disappointment. He may not quite have lived up to the 5 star hype but averaging 12 and 5 as a freshman in the big 10 is nothing to turn up your nose at.
Peters certainly was a bust.

Stone was also on a team that had Melo, Sulaimon, Layman and Carter. There’s only one ball. The bigger disappointment is that as a team they didn’t do more (that path to the Sweet 16 was pretty weak).

There’s stats, and then there’s the eye test. Diamond Stone sucked. Awful footwork, clumsy as hell, often out of position. Oh, and a major flop as a pro. I’m definitely fine with the major disappointment label.
Flop as a pro for sure. Also inconsistent as hell. But when he was on he was dominant.
I don't think Turgeon did a great job putting him in a position to succeed. He never seems to get players ready in 1 year. Bruno and Stix both needed 2 years here. I think someone like Cal or K would have had the NBA ready in a year.

I went back and looked at his stats, and was surprised how many double digit games he had (26) particularly given he averaged just 22 minutes a game. Certainly not terrible. I think I must’ve been taking out my enormous disappointment of that season out on him.
Yeah, I don't at all care how he did as a pro. He did some good things here. I didn't really care for him overall, he was clearly more here for himself than the team, but he produced fine for a freshman. Compare to Peters who truly did nothing.

Anyone who scores 39 points in a conference game as a freshman was at least above average lol
