I'm reading that all games will be played in Birmingham, which makes it really weird that teams are called Philadelphia, Washington, Houston, etc. Tickets for the first game are $10, which is cool. But I can't imagine there's going to be massive crowds with so many games going on.

Ugh. We don’t need minor league football in the spring and summer.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Will they finish the first season? I vote no.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

The original USFL lasted 3 years, and was a decent league.  I would say, this version does not make it anywhere near that.

I actually went to a game or two a game or two in College Park.   The Baltimore Stars won the championship in the last year of the USFL, but never played a game in Baltimore.

Other than nostalgia, what does this new version of the USFL have going for it? Is there a true demand for spring football, or will it go the way of the XFL and the AAF, both of whom saw their ratings crater once the curiosity factor waned.

I agree.  I liked the original version of the USFL.  It was decent football, and innovative in a lot of ways.  I also went to a lot of the Stars games in College Park that third season.  Was interesting because no alcohol was sold in the stadium.  I remember tailgating on the parking lot and drinking a lot of beers quickly then going inside to watch the game in the hot sun.  It was a lot of fun.  And actually contributes to a trivia question.....Baltimore is the only team to win a football championship in the NFL, USFL, and CFL.

I thought the USFL could survive as a spring league, but they had incurred a lot of debt.  Trump forced the move to the fall hoping that the NFL would do what they did with the AFL and merge, taking the strongest teams which would have included the NJ Generals.  He didn't care about the survival of the league, he wanted into the NFL.  When they sued the NFL and won a $3 settlement, the USFL collapsed.  Another Trump failure that I'm sure he will tell you was really a win for him.

It's a shame, I really enjoyed that league.

On a side note, I actually have all 3 copies of their championship programs.  I think it was Philadelphia/Michigan, Philadelphia/Arizona, and Baltimore/Oakland.  I doubt they are worth much though.
