Sneaky possibility to be added to the 40 man.

Interesting guy. Putting a 26 year old at A+ (not to mention being 22 in the DSL a few years back) tells me they don't think much of him, but you can't argue with the results this year. Excellent K rate and looks like mediocre control, should fit right in! But who knows, bullpen is probably the easiest place to catch lightning in a bottle.

Hate that BB rate. Especially for relief pitchers

I did not realize that Bautista was 26..   The time may be now for him.

You have to assume he’ll get a chance early this year or they wouldn’t have bothered putting him on the 40 man. Probably won’t get many chances though.

The lost year is showing upin the ages of some of the prospects.

He also has the best Stuff+ rating of any pitcher that’s pitched in MLB this year according to Eno Sarris at 146.5.

I'll have to look into the rating, but eye test sure says impressive. Definitely a presence.

He has been a very pleasant surprise.  It seems like they are trying to use him for more than 1 inning, which I like.

Is his stuff + , better than Lopez's though?

For comparisons sake Lopez is ranked 88th with a 113.8 Stuff+.
Tyler Wells 107th with a 111.7.
Michael Baumann is our second highest rating at 129.2.

He also has Location+ and combines them for Pitching+. Bautista is a 91 and 116.3, Lopez is a 100.2 and 108, Wells is a 109.8 and 112.5, Baumann is a 90.1 and 98.6.

Nathan Ruiz

Félix Bautista threw more 100+ mph pitches *today* (9) than any Oriole had thrown in any prior *season* since pitch tracking began in 2008.

Anyone know any comps of guys that didn't debut until 27 and then were really good?  Very bizarre career trajectory.
