This is a pretty cool event.  I'll be at the Dunson show on Friday, he's a buddy of mine and he puts on a really good show.  Probably will check out Dan Deacon on Saturday, too.  Hoping to get out there to check out the sites and everything earlier in the week, but not sure I'll have the chance.

I'll try to check it out, maybe this weekend for the wife's b-day.

Not sure about Dan Deacon though. Cringe.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I thought this was pretty cool overall.  Not amazing, but was worth visiting.  The show Saturday night got canceled just after it began due to the weather, but a buddy of mine was playing a set at The Rowhouse Grill so went and saw that instead and had a great time.

Had dinner at Mezze before heading over Friday night.  Hadn't been there in a while, but that place is so consistently good.  I had two actual mezze meals when I visited Cyprus, once on the Turkish side and once on the Greek side, and that's the only place I've gotten better Mediterranean-style food than at Mezze in Fells.

Try Cava Mezze. Especially for brunch. $30 all you can eat and drink mimosas. Was there Sunday...very good.

I walked around the harbor on Saturday around sunset. It was pretty cool, drew a good crowd and should grow over the years to become something even bigger.

It also looked like you could drink beer freely as you walked around too, with an arm band. Drank an Evo and walked and drank...pretty cool to do that in Bmore.

That's so Baltimore. Hope it doesn't hold up the next one...it was pretty cool and I can see it getting much bigger as it progresses.

Why is it so Baltimore? The City is protecting the brand from illegal use of the naming, etc...

In March 2014, Allen and Hall approached the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts about helping to organize the event. After discussions with city officials, BOPA informed the couple they could only put on the festival if it owned and controlled all aspects of Light City, including all trademarks, according to the lawsuit. BOPA, also listed as plaintiff in the suit, is the city's arts agency.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, states Allen and Hall were informed they would have no ownership stake in the festival and they agreed to the terms. The suit was filed by the City of Baltimore and BOPA.

The city loves its lawsuits. It might have a decent basis for a lawsuit but anytime this city seems to get a little momentum on something, there's something else that comes along and holds it up or stops it altogether. See: highway to nowhere, metro system, arena, state center development, tearing down or fixing up any semi historic building (Reads drugstore) and there are many, many others. I'm still amazed they moved on redeveloping the Mechanic Theater and tore it down but even that project seems stuck in limbo.
