This should probably be a 20 album list (and I may expand it in the future) but, for now, here are the 10 best albums from the best decade of music....ever.  Merry Christmas!

1)  The Beatles - "Abbey Road"

2) The Beatles - "The Beatles" (aka "The White Album")

3) Bob Dylan - "Highway 61 Revisited"

4) The Beatles - "Revolver"

5) Bob Dylan - "Bringing It All Back Home"

6) The Velvet Underground & Nico - "The Velvet Underground"

7) The Beatles - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

8) The Rolling Stones - "Let It Bleed"

9) The Who - "The Who Sell Out"

10) Bob Dylan - "Blonde on Blonde"

I agree with some, not with others... although they're all quite good.

Gotta make room for:

Cream - Wheels of Fire

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland

It's a damn crime that Janis never had the right band...

I'd like to push my luck about dates (recorded, not released) and add Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart.  This was shortly before he went Hollywood and earned the title of the Person Most Likely to Go To Hell For Wasting Great Talent.

Out of curiosity, which do you agree and disagree with?  I would imagine you raised some hell in the 60s....

Well, I'm not dissing any of them, they're all good and most are important... but, jeez, top 10... that's an awfully high bar...

The only ones I think are not debatable are #'s 1, 3, 5, 7.  The others face some stiff competition...

Plus, to do it right, I really think you gotta include 70 and probably 71, vibe-wise and music-wise...

Need some Van Morrison in there somewhere... Astral Weeks or Moondance... if the two were a double album (like Revolver and Rubber Soul might have been), it would be a shoo-in...

I would imagine you raised some hell in the 60s....

Um, 60's... it kinda rings a bell... not sure, exactly... but I've somehow got a lovely peyote paisley floating in my vision... up in the upper right... medium lavender with touches of cornflower blue...

We've discussed this before, might have been on OH, but my favorite Van Morrison album is "His Band and the Street Choir", and I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't heard it.

That is all.

I did a 70s list. Moondance was on it.

You also gotta jettison the early '60's... it was really from ~63 to ~72...

Event-wise, it was from JFK getting shot to the Watergate crime-and-cover-up....

I should have been alive in the 60s. Great music, great Orioles teams, women who would sleep even with slugs like me.

I think a lot of people forget about Simon and Garfunkel, but for a couple of their songs.  They were so good.

"Gates of Eden" is such a great song.  Fucking masterpiece.

And, between him and the Beatles, we all thought that kind of output was normal...
