Sorry to pile on GA, but I just found out that Gilman finished second in the MIAA in Indoor Track to...Calvert Hall!

From VSN: “The Cardinals placed in 11 different events in route to scoring 139 points in the meet. Gilman came in second and scored with 97.5 points, followed by third place Mount St. Joseph which scored 89 points.”

CHC will probably fight for the MIAA title in Outdoor Track. Should be a fun spring.

I knew that. Some of their top guys were playing basketball, Foster being one of them. But I think your Cards have a great chance to win it all and take down the behemoth that is Gilman track.

Does anybody know who the top dogs among the public school are in Baltimore City and surrounding counties? Is Mervo still a power in the City or has another school supplanted the Mustangs at the top?

Poly won boys and girls indoor track. Mervo has excellent sprints and relays but Poly puts together complete squads

Digital Harbor boys have some good relay squads, particularly the 4x2 and 4x4 teams, both of which placed at 3A States.

For the second part of your question, I'd say the Hereford and Harford Tech girls are two of the most complete teams in the area.

Century boys are quite good. They have a kid named Jalen Stanton, who won four events at 2A indoor states. That's very difficult to do, and particularly in indoor because it's a one-day meet and the events come up very quickly.

The IAAM should come down to McDonogh and Mount de Sales once again.

McDonogh has a terrific sprinter and long jumper in Jada Seaman. They don't have any other real stars, but they have a lot of depth and do a good job of spreading their kids out and can score in virtually every event. That's the key to winning in track: you don't need to win every event (I don't think Hereford actually won one event at 2A States), but you need multiple kids who can place. McDonogh does quite well in that regard. Another distance runner would help them immensely.

If you haven't seen the Whittaker sisters--Juliette and Isabella--of Mount de Sales, they're worth sitting through a track meet to see run. Isabella covers the longer sprints, while Juliette is a threat in anything from middle to long distance. They're both terrific and versatile talents. Samatha Facius is the long-distance ace, and if they can find a little more help in the hurdles and certain field events, they'll be even more formidable.

Gilman won the MIAA relays last weekend. Outdoor is different than indoor, Gilman has all their dogs running now. Face off against CHC next week.

Some pretty remarkable performances Saturday at the Pikesville Track Classic.

Drew Dailey of Dulaney pulled off a tough double, winning the 1600 in 4:22, then came back later against a very competitive field to win the 800 in 1:54, which is a terrific time. The first seven finishers, in fact, all came in under 2:00.

Juliette Whittaker of Mount de Sales took the girls 1600 in a sit-up-and-take-notice time of 4:48. I have never seen any girl go under 4:50 in a high school meet, so that was something to watch. In maybe the best race of the day, Emily Knight of Severna Park held off the other Whittaker, Isabella, in the 800M, 2:14.51 to 2:15.13. The Girls 4A state 800 could be one of the best races of the year, with Knight, Ella Auderset of Urbana, and Bronwyn Patterson of South River all figuring to be vying for the state championship.

On the boys side, Garrison Clark of Severna Park cruised past the field in the 3200 in 9:13, while for the girls, McDonogh's Jada Seaman set a meet record with a 12.05 clocking in the 100M Dash.

McDonogh was 1-2 in the 400 meters. You said McDonogh doesn't have any other real stars

Gilman beat CHC 78-68 this week. Definitely a close one. Looks like Gilman will roll the dual meet title. The Championships should be interesting.

Forgot to mention this, during the meet against CHC Gilman’s ninth grader Beck Wittstadt ran a 1:55.1 in the 800 meters. That’s blazing fast that early in the season, hell at any point in the season for that matter. But the fact that he ran that as a ninth grader, is crazy!! At this rate, He will break every state record. Believe the 800 isn’t even his best race, the 1600 is.

Juliette Whittaker of Mount de Sales ran a 2:07.96 yesterday at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Invitational. That is scary good.

On the boys side, Kyle Lund of Oakdale won the 800M in 1:53.13. He also won the 1600M in 4:16.54. Doubling in those two events is very difficult to do, particularly when it's a highly-competitive field.

Wow, that’s fast. By states, he will probably go 1:51. And it looks like he’s only a junior. Don’t know the state record, but believe it’s around 1:49.

The state record (meaning it was accomplished during the MPSSAA championships) is 1:50.18, set by Kieran McDermott of Bel Air (now at Princeton) just last spring. He actually ran a 1:48-something on the anchor leg of the 4x8 at last year's outdoor states. That kid was flat-out fun to watch.

Congrats to Gilman for winning their third straight MIAA dual meet Championship. I think McD won fours years ago, to stop like 6 or 7 straight championships by Gilman. They’re the biggest dynasty in all of Men’s sports in the MIAA.

Gilman (I erroneously stated Calvert Hall initially) wins the MIAA A boys championship, while Mount de Sales is victorious in the IAAM.
