Yea he was dominant except for that whole World Series he cost them
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Yea he was dominant except for that whole World Series he cost them
He threw 160 innings in the playoffs. 1 appearance that he gives up a shitty base hit doesn’t change his dominance.
No one is going to be perfect every time but he was damn close.

If nothing else, consider it a vote for defense, for Polanco is the only player in history to hold the lifetime fielding percentage records...

It's infuriating.
I mean, I have no problem with a vote for a guy like Polanco. In the current environment of the overstuffed ballot it's an issue, but in general, if a voter wants to throw a ballot spot at a guy they like who had a nice career--especially if it gives them a chance to talk about them a bit--it's a nice gesture. But don't try to justify it. It just makes you look bad, and opens the player up to unnecessary criticism.

Let's be frank: The elections of Jack Morris, Lee Smith, and (especially) Harold Baines are fully intended by voters to troll everyone who believes in objective analysis. They've lost power everywhere but here, but by God they're gonna use it. Embarrassing to Hall (or should be).

Yep. And it's sad that they will use someone like Harold Baines--who deserves to be celebrated for who he WAS as a ballplayer, not denigrated for his flaws--to make that point
