Pet threads seem pretty standard around message boards, so I figure we might as well start one up here.

To start things off here is my lovely Kiley, sad that I am not sharing my breakfast with her. She is a 3 y.o. rescue, we have had since she was a pup. She definitely has some pit in her, and I'm pretty sure she has some ridgeback in her as well.

The one issue I've always had with her is trimming her nails. I have given her baths, eye drops, ear drops, etc. and never had a problem, but I can't for the life of me get her to let me trim her nails. She's great with people and other dogs, but the nails do some damage to our hard wood floors and are a pain when she decides to be an ass and jump up on a guest. Aside from taking her to the vet and having her put under I haven't found any trick to get the job done. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I'm missing my boy Murphy. I'm on vacation visiting family in Minnesota for two weeks and he's staying with friends. He's a 4 year old brindle Boxer.

Here he is (on the right) hanging out with the neighbor's dog:

Your neighbor's dog looks like my dog, but mine is a little bigger.

My dog Daisy looks almost EXACTLY like her, like could be from the same litter like her. I'll have to try to find a pic and post it.

My girlfriend and I have a cat which she went out and found in an alley in Federal Hill while drunk. I didn't want her, but she's growing on me. I realize that sentence has a vague subject, and I'll leave it like that.

My roommate has a mutt he rescued from BARCS while we were still in college. I would never get a big dog in the city since I think it's cruel unless you're going way overboard on the walks and park visits (which my roommate absolutely does not), and would never get a tiny dog anywhere. Once I eventually move out to some place with a yard and a fence and everything, I'd like to get a lab of some kind. Had the world's greatest yellow lab growing up, a 110 lb mammoth with the biggest head I've ever seen on a dog.

I've also got a 125 gallon saltwater fish tank, but don't exactly consider them or the corals "pets", more of just a living hobby.

The Aussie (Homer) is mine. The one on the left (Moby) is my friends dog. He's a mix of Pit/Grey Hound/and maybe something else they aren't quite sure.

That's my boxer sleeping with my youngest boy up at our cabin last weekend. She is the sweetest dog ever. She loves it when my daughter paints her toe nails.

Sorry Markus - that's tough. Heart breaking when you have to say bye to the most loyal of friends.

Sorry man. I'll drink a toast to him tonight. My best friend (see below) is about 10 now. He's healthy and in good shape, but I know that time is drawing near.

No idea how I missed this thread. That's Hunter, a Treeing Walker Coonhound, ~10 -y/o. Adopted him from the SPCA off Falls Road 7 years ago.

Thanks for the kind words guys.  Needless to say it's been a bit of a rough day.

Like I told Stoner, for some reason I've always been a bit uncomfortable of the RIP-type posts that people make on the internet and never thought I'd actually be doing one.  For some reason I felt like making that type of post here was something that I could do.  It's really stepping out of my comfort zone and I think that really speaks volumes to the type of community (not just sports/O's but just good quality people in general) that everyone has helped create here.

As for Hooligan, we adopted him about 9 years ago when he was 8 after he had become an in-house pet at a vet hospital at Rockville that Tina (my better half) started working at as a Tech.  He was just a few months shy of turning 18 and I just hope we were able to enhance the quality of life to the degree that he enhanced ours.  The thing that's gonna get me is that since I work from home mostly I honestly saw, and hung out with, him more than anyone else.  I know time heals all wounds and yada yada yada (and no I'm not yadaing sex) but this one will definitely sting for a bit.

Anyways, thanks for letting me vent a bit and later on, when I can get around to it I'll have to update this thread with a list/pictures of some of the other pets we currently have.  It's quite the spectacle.
