Was thinking the same. Might be why Ted has been taking his time....waiting for the inevitable Penguins meltdown.

Firing Danny boy would be a mistake, IMO. Shero needs to go though. I'd gladly take Bylsma if he gets fired, but not if it means hiring Shero too.

I think Jim Benning (Bruins AGM) might be another reason why. Shocked he didn't get the Sabres job.

Interesting article about P.K. Subban. If there was a defenseman I'd happily give up two first rounders, a second rounder, and a third rounder for, it would probably be P.K.

I am usually against signing RFAs because the compensation system is ludicrous. That said, Subban is worth it. FWIW, Weber's offer sheet had an AAV of $7,857,143. I'd happily pay that for Subban. I think I'd pause at the four first round picks though (which is what it would be if the AAV is greater than $8,410,977).

I think he wants to talk to some of the front office guys in LA as well, with Boston being eliminated now I wonder if anyone in their FO gets an interview.
As far as coaches go I would definitely like to see them go after Trotz (gotta love a guy that used to coach the Skipjacks!), Bylsma is certainly an interesting option as well. I would still prefer they get a GM first, but I would make an exception for Trotz.

Pittsburgh fired Shero, but contrary to reports Bylsma has not been fired. They will let the next GM determine his fate.

Alex Ovechkin Injures Leg At World Championships, Carried Off Of Ice
Taken away in an ambulance. Does not sound good.

For those whose Russian is a bit rusty, I think the title means "Ovechkin after his injury." Just seeing him able to walk on his own is a very good sign.

He's ok.

In house for GM? Wow. Doesn't see that one coming. Great news on Trotz.
My initial thoughts are I would've kept GMGM instead of staying in-house, doesn't mean he is a carbon copy but I would've liked to see them go outside the org.

Yeah I don't understand that one either.
