I'm looking to ditch ScoreCenter, partly because of the Bill Simmons thing/ESPN is a bloodsucking vampire and mostly because the ESPN notification center widget on iOS8 was apparently a great place for ESPN to advertise online radio shows that I don't care about (so, really, back to that bloodsucking vampire thing).
What does everyone use to get in-game notifications on their smartphone? I'm on iOS, but I'm assuming that the best and brightest will be available on multiple platforms.

Android's built in Google notifications thing works alright doing that sort of stuff for me, but I'm guessing that's not available to you.
Unfortunately, no. I can always ask Siri for updates, but I want something pushed whenever a favorited team scores.

Get the Yahoo Sports app. I switched over about a year ago. Love it.

Scorecenter sucks. I hope someone has a better option.
I do have Android, and Google Now is pretty good, but sometimes I really want to see more than the score.

I also use Yahoo Sports. Easy to use, set up notifications, alerts, etc...

Is it slow as all hell and does it crash randomly?
(Wow, that's pretty much a description of ESPN as a whole, honestly.)

It doesn't crash for me but it does take a while to load when I open it but I also have a fossil iPhone 4.

I echo Sean. Yahoo is quick, easy to use and read, organized.
ESPN is the worst app ever. I get their notifications and nine times out of ten the entire headline cant be seen, and when you open it up, the story isnt even there. Like an O's headline comes up about a quote or a player, then it takes you to the box score. Huh? I expected better from the worldwide leader.
CBS sports has great notifications, but Yahoo is my go to for checking scores and stats on the go.
Let's not forget that according to ESPN Eugene Monroe threw a touchdown pass this past weekend.
