With Goodell getting some flack and probably some praise for how he's handled the Rice situation and with Bud retiring, I think it's time to rank the commissioners.

Adam Silver is #1 IMO, but it's almost by default. He handled the Sterling situation quite well and he seems to be an outside the box thinker, but it's not like he's done much yet.

Of course, everyone is going to say Adam Silver, he's barely been in the job and the opinion is largely based off of one decision (albeit a major one). I'd like see to what people think of him in a few years, let alone a decade.

Bettman should probably be last if for nothing else all the work stoppages. You could probably make a case for any of the three being the worst. With the way the commissioner's office has evolved from an independent voice into a mouthpiece for the owners more or less, they are bound to have their fair share of detractors.

Silver is certainly on top of the Big Four right now, and handled his first crisis with aplomb. Even the players seem to be a fan at the moment. That said, we'll see what happens when it's time for his first CBA negotiations.
