[You Play to Win the Game]

The Athletic has it behind the paywall, but search out the new alternate jerseys for each NHL team. Giving each team a “Retro/Modern” look, which the Capitals already have.

The new one for the Caps is the eagle uniform from the late 1990s but in red white and blue rather than the black and gold. Looks good, but, nah.

I like it as a change up. Pretty neat.

It sounds like from the article these will be alternate jerseys they can wear during games. Spent two years collaborating with each team to recognize a certain era, or something meaningful they want to bring back. Brought each team a few variations to choose from and they decided on the one to go with.

Some are pretty cool. Some are not far off from what they currently wear.

As a kid I liked the blue Caps Eagle uniform. I liked when it had “Capitals” on the front, and at some point that went away and the whites looked too plain without it. Never liked the black and gold though with the capital building logo on the front.

Yeah. Kings combined two eras, Canucks looks sharp without being lazy like just reversing the colors (Oilers, Bruins, a few others).

 

I'm not sure how I'd feel about teams like Carolina and Colorado wearing the Whalers and Nordiques respectively. It'd be like the Ravens having a Cleveland Browns alternate set.

Eh not really, the Browns still exist. It's the Nats wearing Expos uniforms, which they did last year

To be fair though the Nordiques unis are nice and the Whalers have one of the best logos ever.

Yeah I'm fine with using the old logos if it's iconic look, so those + Nats rocking the Expos is fine for me

As they often do, Oregon is unveiling a new uniform for this week's game against UCLA. It's called the "eggshell," but it looks more to me like a bad Jackson Pollack knockoff.

Speaking of, I see that unranked UCLA are favorites by a point against Oregon at home. While that wouldn't surprise me given how mediocre Oregon has looked since the Ohio St. win, a loss here by Oregon would be pretty devastating to the PAC 12.

Yeah, mentioned this game in my weekly piece. The line has actually shifted a bit, it was UCLA by 2 early in the week. Oregon is obviously the last playoff hope for the Pac.

It’s been a long long time since I’ve caught Oregon on TV and thought, “that uni looks sharp”. Those things are hideous.
