In the process of hiring a caterer for my wedding next summer.  Anyone have any particularly good or bad experiences with any of the local vendors?

Based on the approved list from our venue (BMI) and the folks who have responded to me in a timely fashion so far, we are looking at hiring one of Chef's Expressions, Atlantic, Dionysus, Simply Elegant, Innovative Gourmet, Zeffert & Gold, and Rouge.

Reviews on sites like theknot and yelp and others seem to be pretty overwhelmingly positive for all of them, with only a couple of the places getting any substantial amount of negative feedback.

I think the real question is, are you going to find anything better than what you could cook yourself?  I doubt it.

I'm sorry for this utterly useless post.

I worked at JHU and was involved with an events department, and they frequently held catered events. I'm familiar with Chef's Expressions and Innovative Gourmet, and both were always good. The most popular one was usually Classic Catering in Owings Mills.

Disclosure: It has been over 7 years, so things can change.
