So we had a deal in place for Jorge De la Rosa.....
Per Gammons
No one in Colorado seems to know what owner Dick Monfort intends to do, unless he brings former Rockies assistant Thad Levine in from Texas. Monfort is an extraordinarily loyal man. When there were exploratory talks about deals for Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez last winter, he nixed them. When they had a July deal with Baltimore to send Jorge De La Rosa—originally signed by Dan Duquette—to the O’s for 21-year old lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez, Monfort killed the deal. For what it’s worth, Colorado’s baseball people considered Rodriguez the best prospect on the deadline trade market; Duquette then traded Rodriguez for Andrew Miller, who gives the Orioles one of the best bullpens in the game and gave Boston a pitcher several teams rate the best top-level pitching prospect in the American League.

Yeah, I don't believe that trade was ever agreed upon, either.
Rodriguez has been freaking amazing for the Red Sox, though. Still in AA, he's had a 9.4 K/9, 1.9 BB/9, and given up just 1 HR and 4 runs in 37 innings. I think we'll definitely regret having traded him. That's different than regretting the trade, because Miller has been equally amazing for us (1.6 BB/9, 15.6 K/9!!!) and should continue to be so in the playoffs, but I certainly think we'll look back and really wish the Red Sox had caved and accepted whatever Duquette's 2nd best offer was..

All will be forgiven if we win the WS.
Actually probably not if ERod becomes a beast for them but it was a trade that has worked out well for us thus far. Hopefully it continues well into the playoffs.

What is Miller looking for in years and money per. I am thinking at least 3 years and 7-8 mil per. I heard 22 teams want his services and the should. Orioles would be stupid not to go after him strong

If 22 teams want his services, then he's just gonna sit back and see how high it goes... it's perfect timing for this guy...

This really sucks IMO. I believe the team would be better off with Miller and some combination of Lough/platoon dude they just signed, Alvarez, and Pearce vs righties than with Nick and a cheap reliever.

MLB Network says there are 3 teams left in on Miller... Yanks, Red Sox, and Houston.... with NY unlikely to offer more than 3 years.
