Shohei Ohtani has thrown the fastest pitch of any starting pitcher so far in this early season (100.6 MPH) and has the hardest-hit HR of the season by any player (115.2 MPH exit velocity).

To quote Cocktail, everything ends badly, or else it wouldn't end.

The Los Angeles Angels are releasing future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols today, per sources. Pujols is in the final year of his 10-year, $253 million contract.

It would seem that Dylan Bundy is sick and tired of how things are going in Anaheim this season. But hey, it could be worse….he could still be with the Orioles.

BREAKING: Right-hander Noah Syndergaard and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year, $21 million deal, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. The Angels bolster their staff with the highest-upside arm on the market — and pay a heavy price, plus a second-rounder.

Boom or Bust type signing.  Good for the Angels, in possibly getting a real good starter for a year.  No long term damage if it does not work out.

Absolutely hate this deal for the Angels, and they totally bailed out the Mets.

Syndergaard had his rehab extended multiple times last year and only showed up that for a couple bad 1-inning 'openings' at the very end of the year.

I was surprised the Mets' offered him, I wouldn't, because he was clearly accepting.  I would just rather put that 18.4M into any one of a number other things, so now instead of a poor starting pitching option, they get a draft pick.

I like the Angels at some level so I hope it works for them.  I think it's going to be a disaster.  Maybe they have an angle where they think this one-year relationship will give them a leg up on a next contract.

You can't just offer him 18.5M.  HIs team will argue all of the issues with moving and taxes and everything to CA...so that number is apparently 2.6M.  Ugh.

A 1 yr deal is never a disaster for the team. It might not work out at all but it can just never be labeled a disaster. On the other hand if we were still paying....oh never mind.
