Yahoo: O's reinstate Strop from DL
http://sports.yahoo....13225--mlb.html

Welcome back Pedro... O's need you to perform. I'm guessing Showalter does not take long to get him back in a game.

Strop threw gasoline on the fire today.  Maybe his outing would have been different, had the double play ball Conger provided been converted... but Strop knocked it down, and the play was not made.

Two things that Strop did there, can't happen. On Aybar's hit into the RCF gap, he was not there to back up 3rd. On the next batter, he lost his focus, and his mechanics just immediately fell apart again.

I still believe in his ability. Do feel for the guy walking off the mound to boos..... but that performance was horrible. If he gets DFA'd, that is what happens.

The O's gave him time with the DL stint to get right. I liked that they provided that opportunity. I think it is highly possible that Strop again finds himself down the road.... but in the middle of June, when you are trying to win.... Bnickle is right that you can't hide a guy. You need a full roster of guys you trust to contribute.

Strop isn't that guy right now.... it sucks, but he can't be on the roster tomorrow.

As I start to calm down, all I can do is just laugh at the following:

It was the latest in a difficult string of outings for Strop (0-3), who has allowed multiple runs in three of his past four outings and has an ERA of 30.86 over that span of 2 1/3 innings. He’s also walked four batters in that span.

The most telling stat about Strop’s struggles might be that he’s allowed more than half of his inherited runners – seven of 13 – to score.

Thinking back to how Strop fell apart late last season when the pressure was on, my gut tells me that his mental issues will mean we can never truly rely on the guy.   Even if he fixes his immediate issues, I think it's going to be the same cycle over and over with him.

Considering the O's already tried the injury thing with him, I think you probably just have to take your chances and try to pass him through waivers. If he gets through, great, maybe he can spend a month or two down in Norfolk and get things right. If not, well, it's not as though he hasn't been given ample chances. He pitched very poorly at the end of last season and has been nothing short of abysmal this year. I think you probably have to make the move now though. He's a waste of a roster spot if you're not going to pitch him, and he's hurting the team when he pitches.

i think the team would rather him work through these issues..His stuff is just too nasty for him to be this bad, right?

Use him in mop up duty for a while longer.

First off, I was wondering about third, too, but that may not have been his job. Was he standing around, or was he backing up home?

Second, I don't know how bad the boos came across on TV, but being there the only Oriole I've ever heard booed worse was Mike Gonzalez at the home opener a couple years ago. It was tough to listen to, even if it was warranted by Strop's performance.

He went behind home, he should have been between 3rd and home. At home he was just lost, and blocked out of the play.

Strop's ERA in his last 2.1 IP is higher than his age.
