I was in Kansas when I first encountered Steak 'n Shake, and I've been to the one in Fredericksburg, which is super-packed on the weekends. I haven't had opportunities to try nearly the full scale of their offerings, but from what I've had they're pretty good, definitely worth a shot. Their thinner fries can be a nice change of pace. It's pretty likely there'll be some special deals and coupons as they set to open.

Steak and Shake is quality fast food. I stop by whenever I'm heading through Missouri.

I literally ate at Steak 'n Shake for the first time last night. I was impressed. Not only was the food very good--especially the shakes--but it was pretty cheap. Cheaper even than McDonalds for better quality food.
