I think the Browns would be foolish to dump Mayfield this year. I don't think he's on the "top five" QB path (like Manning, Brady, Brees) but when healthy he's a dangerous second tier solid QB that can flash brighter at times. You can do a lot worse, and unless you have a sure thing lined up, not worth the restart to me. The guy had a pretty serious shoulder injury this year. Even if it was non throwing, you can't assume it was trivial to his performance. Most every throw with the right hand starts with your left shoulder leading, driving, and rotating.
Similar to the Flacco era, one only has to look at all the QBs that came before to realize Mayfield is the best they've had since the Browns returned.

This is the key part to me. Were I the Browns, I wouldn't dump him without a plan, but I'd be actively looking to upgrade. I'd have lots of interest in Russel Wilson. :Less in someone like Garapolo, but I do think he'd be an upgrade over Mayfield.
