Probably not good news on Wieters.

As Jim Palmer just said, he's likely to be the starter. He's a righty with pretty strong reverse splits. Above .700 OPS vs righties. Below .600 vs lefties.

Also is making 3 mil this year. Not complete chump change to pick up the 2 mil left this year

He also hasn't thrown out a baserunner yet.

Though his career avg is the league avg at 28%

Patton was very expendable. Hopefully Hundley pans out.

Yeah, Patton was not only struggling, but he is redundant with Britton, Matusz, and McFarland all currently on the ML roster.

Great, so we trade for a guy who can't hit for power, can't walk, has struck out nearly 1/4 of the times he comes to bat...Sounds like a "starter" to me.  BLECK!

I'd rather we start The Clev if we can't add a SOLID catcher...however, they ain't a dime a dozen in this league.

Outside MIMS, I don't think there's exactly a good option. I always enjoy the "let's get a better backup catcher" discussions though. If only we could be talking about that now.

Really not a bad option at all considering the cost, and the time of year we traded for him. I'll take it.

He will fit right in! How does he do with low and away sliders??

He's better than Joseph and probably still better than Clev. The track record is ok.

I'm not sure this says anything about Wieters.

The bottom line is they are likely playing without Wieters for another month or so, if he does come back.

And, they might like Hundley as a backup more than what we currently have.

And Patton is a dime a dozen guy...can be good sometimes...terrible other times.

We got a slightly better C than Clevenger for $2 million. Ok, I guess.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Well unless the O's are paying some of it, you have to subtract what Patton was due, which off the top of my head is around 1.2M.

Pretty sure I heard the Pads were also giving us "cash considerations".

@FollowThePadres Market for Hundley in April/early May was zero, but framing improvements with AGM A.J. Hinch (former C), led to big gains. #Padres #Orioles

Framing improvements? Buck probably loved that.
