The general manager of BDubs was telling me he met with folks from Flying Dog who told them they just finalized a deal with Old Bay to produce an Old Bay beer. Not sure of the details, but he said the art for the beer was very Marylandy, and that he expects it to be a big hit.

I love Old Bay, and I love Flying Dog, but I'm just not quite sure how I feel about this...

Looks like it's called Gose.

There are a few reviews up at Rate Beer.

Sounds like something that could be great -- or horrible. FD has a solid rep so I give them the benefit of the doubt here.

I had a beer brewed with salt before -- can't remember what it was or where I had it, but it's not typically something you can drink a bunch of.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Very true. I'm anxious and cautiously optimistic to try it. Should be interesting to say the least.

Gose is an old German style of beer. It's brewed with coriander and salt but isn't "salty" in its flavor profile. Instead, it's got a sort of zesty, lemony, almost sour taste. It's a bit like lemonade. Old Bay has so much salt in it anyway, I think that an Old Bay gose has a lot of promise. It should be citrusy and a little spicy. Goses are typically very refreshing and brewed for warmer months. Could be a perfect beer for pairing with crabs...

Dead Rise is solid. Can't see myself drinking a ton of them, they're pretty filling.

Yeah Tucker said it was pretty solid, not too overpowering. Nice little summer beer.

Hoegarden with a ton of salt. Not bad. Top it with a sprinkle of old bay because you can't really taste it in the beer.

Has this made it out to any local stores yet? I always enjoy Flying Dog, and this sounds like it could be a go-to this summer.
