Everyone knew Judge wasn't going anywhere.

Was there ever any word on what Judge offered the Yankees before last season? I know he turned down 7 @ $30.5M, but never saw what he asked for and am curious as to how much saying no cost the Yankees.
Sadly the money doesn't matter for NY, so its not like the risk of this deal means anything to the Orioles.
The O's being $5M apart on an extension and holding firm with Manny still chaps my ass.

Im shocked, I thought the Yankees was the last place he was going to land, and he had some internal gripes about their organization and methods and he was ready for a fresh start anywhere but there.
I guess sports news isnt always right.

Have to see if the Giants did make an offer or were the Yankees bidding against themselves.

One report has the Giants going as high as 10/$400, although that hasn't been confirmed. The Padres also were said to have offered Trea Turner $340 million, so it isn't inconceivable to think they weren't offering something similar to Judge.

With his talent, I find it hard to believe there was no other bidders.
Then again, anything is possible these days.

After another 3-4 years I think Judge breaks down. Probably going to be more like Maris than Mantle.

Agree, but a sunken $40M a year from 2028-2031 won't prevent anything the Yankees want to do.

Had it not been for the DH in the National League, there probably wouldn't have been. No NL team would have been in on Judge for nine or 10 years if that option didn't exist.

Agreed. Judge could get hit by a bus tomorrow and the Yankees wouldn't flinch.

Yet, the Dodgers outspend even the Yankees.

I wonder how much deferred money were in these rumored Padres offers to Judge and Turner. They were so much larger than the deals the guys signed that there has to be a catch. If they were legit full-value offers they'd at least have been used for more leverage to further increase the deals these guys did sign.

Incredible note from Tom Verducci on @MLBNetwork: Judge is 282 pounds and will be signed through his age-39 season. He'll have a chance to become just the second player ever to hit a home run at 270 pounds or more and at age 37 or higher.

Im pretty sure Babe was 270 when he was over 37 and hitting 350+ home runs.

The real Babe Ruth was a good bit smaller than the John Goodman Babe Ruth.

Manny still chaps my ass, too.
Sadly, I dont even think we offered a real deal that put us within $5m.
