I really wonder what "moderate" interest means.

Probably means "take our bad contract and we'll take yours"!

FanGraphs: Bud Norris Changes His Way

This kind of difference is a big part of what P-coaches are for... no reason to think improvement cannot continue either...

MASN: Showalter speaks after 8-6 loss to Cardinals

http://www.masnsport...-cardinals.html

Starter Bud Norris went four innings today, but he couldn't come back out for the fifth due to an elevated pitch count.

"Not as good as it needs to be, not as good as it's going to be," Showalter said. "Like to have him go another inning, but the pitch count and the other team wouldn't let him. Lot of deep counts lends to lack of crispness.

"I just don't think he's real confident throwing the ball. Didn't seem real confident challenging the strike zone with his stuff. It's normal. We have a couple more weeks, he'll get the ball a couple more times. Feel confident he'll make some strides and be ready."

Per ESPN:

Spin: Norris is coming off a rocky spring in which he allowed 12 earned runs on 16 hits with nine walks in 11.2 innings. Spring training stats should always be taken with a grain of salt because pitchers are usually working on their secondary pitches. Norris is in a contract year and will be motivated this season and he is hot off a 15-win season.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Improved control (2.83 BB/9) and far better success against left-handed hitters (.255 BAA) contributed to Norris' finest season as a pro in 2014. In 28 starts for the Orioles, the hard-throwing right-hander won a career-best 15 games while posting new career bests in ERA (3.65) and WHIP (1.22). A refined changeup and improved slider drove his newfound success against lefties, so usage of those pitches should continue to trend upward in those particular matchups. Norris' home-run rate (1.07 HR/9) continues to be a red flag, but if he maintains his command and builds upon his 2014 success against lefties, he could warrant a spot in the back end of your fantasy rotation.

Gave up 9 ER in rehab start today. Gross.

Convert him to the bullpen, let Wright, Gausman, and Bundy battle for his spot in the rotation.

That earlier fangraphs article about his pitch splits was interesting. I wonder how it looks this year?

Seems he was very effective getting outs with his secondary pitches.

edit:

His slider percentage is way up, his change up percentage is down, and his fastball percentage is up from his career high last year. They didn't have statistics for his sinker listed.

His fastball velocity is also down from his career-high average last year.
