Saw it today and I agree, it's got nominations coming for picture, director, actor, cinematography, writing, score, and best supporting actor coming its way.
Only rated PG?

Yeah. Doesn't feel like one though.

Gladiator II was good, not great. Major retread, plot and character-wise, from the first film. Lacks the central performance that Crowe brought to the first one. Still, the spectacle is there and Denzel steals the show. Worth seeing on the big screen.

New trailer is out for Fantastic Four. I am more excited for the new Superman movie, but this looks like it could be good too. It's got a different "feel" to it from other MCU movies.

Some movies I've seen from the last few months that stuck out...
Love Lies Bleeding - currently streaming on Max. Excellent small town crime drama/comedy. Reminded me of Fargo in a way. 9/10
The Brutalist - main performance from Adrien Brody is Oscar worthy, but the film makes some puzzling decisions at times that I am still thinking about. 8/10
A Real Pain - streaming on Hulu. Drama/comedy about two cousins that go to Poland to visit their grandmother's home and visit the concentration camp she survived. Oscar-worthy performance from Culkin and probably the most tone-perfect film of the year. There is not a moment in this film that feels inauthentic. 10/10
City of Lies - movie about the Biggy murder starring Johnny Depp. Movie came and went like a fart in the wind but I thought it was pretty good considering the bad reviews it received. For fans of rap music, it's worth checking out. 7/10

Kelly wouldn’t be happy if it weren’t a joke, I’ll put it that way.
Umm ok, I guess I'm missing the joke so my apologies sir.

Emilia Perez - 7/10
I expected to dislike it based on the backlash and I generally dislike musicals but it's actually really well-done and the cast is great. And at 130 mins it's one of the shorter nominated movies this year which is a benefit.

This week I watched two sports movies I'd never seen before. Hoosiers, which somehow fell through the cracks for 39 years and Hardball. I really liked them both but my god is there a character death in Hardball that may be the most out of left field character death ever that changes the whole movie. If you've seen the movie, you know. I kinda knew it was coming and it still gutted me.

I'm not even a big basketball fan, but Hoosiers is most likely on my Sports Movies Mount Rushmore
If I grew up watching it I am sure I'd feel the same way. I liked it a lot, and it's a great sports movie, but I think there are several others I'd put ahead of it.

Gimme a couple, or your Rushmore. My initial quick take my 4 would probably be
Bull Durham
Hoosiers
Cinderella Man
the first 2 are locks for me. Cinderella Man is a strong 3rd, but maybe I replace it. 4th is wide open at the moment.
