Golden Era Committee elects:

No one.

Dick Allen and Tony Oliva each fell a vote short. I'm betting one makes it in next time around, at least.

Posnanski: The Veteran’s Committee and Bad Math

All math leads to Jersey Mike’s … and this, believe it or not, is simply a simplified version of ongoing problem with the Veterans Committee for the Baseball Hall of Fame. There, too, all maths point to Jersey Mike’s.

It's so depressing that I can look at that ballot and name a full second ten of guys who also should be in:

Kent

E. Martinez

Mattingly

McGriff

McGwire

Sheffield

Smoltz

Sosa

Trammell

Walker

Easily more than 10 guys who deserve to get in.

So, my ballot will be similar to last year in that I won't vote for the automatics, since they will get in anyway:

Bonds
Clemens
Schilling
Mussina
Raines
Piazza
Bagwell
McGwire
Trammel
Edgar

Mattingly?

I changed what I meant to write after making the list, which was guys who reasonably could be in. Mattingly would be there (though I wouldn't actually vote for him) along with a couple others I didn't put there. Most of them, though, I would vote.

Can we write-in Pete Rose?  Or are write-in's not allowed?

I agree with Shack and DJ. Go stock up on non perishable food and bottled water.

Here is a question. Do Sosa and McGwire make your ballots even if the whole roids thing never happened? What I mean is, in a "vacuum" are their resumes good enough?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

There's still the 10 problem...

Sosa less than McGwire, but yes.
