He is wrong.

Mussina will be carried over to next year.  He has already hit the minimum mark required for 5%.  If the same number of voters vote this year as they did last year, he needs 28 votes to be carried over.  He currently has 42 public votes.  I doubt voters have increased from 568 to 841.

It also means Trammel, Martinez, and Smith will be carried over.

Guys like Kent, McGriff, Walker, McGwire, Sosa, Raffy, and Mattingly have slight to significant concerns hitting that 5% mark.

Jon, we just had David Schoenfield on Lance's show.... he said he's concerned Mussina won't get 5%.

Oh wow, that would surprise me. I still don't like people voting just to keep people on the ballot but that gives that point more validity.

He's got 42 votes already according to repoz. He's already clear.

Well then, my above statement still stands though.

Chris, did you leave Schilling, Edgar, and Trammel off simply due to space?

I wonder why Biggio got so little support.

I think McGwire, and Raffy belong. Don't think I'd vote for Walker. I'd have to look at him harder than I have though.

Yep.

Which shows how deep this ballot is...I wouldn't dispute anyone you chose.

This is why I said I would leave off the guys who obviously get in..Glavine and Maddux.

@JeffPassan Not voting for Greg Maddux is bad. Voting for Jack Morris and not voting for Greg Maddux is a Hall of Fame ballot felony.

Jacque Jones got a vote.

That guy will apparently get to vote again.

I find it amusing that, as strong an opinion as I have on almost everything involving the Hall, I honestly don't care about throwing a token vote at some of those players. Now, in the current environment, that's a problem. But overall, I think it's a nice gesture.

If there weren't more than 10 worthy guys on the ballot, I wouldn't have a problem with it. When guys like Piazza, Raines, Mussina etc. are getting little support, it's treasonable.
