Taking a look at if Tommy Hunter is the best option to close games should the O's decide to stay in house.

Hopefully he'll come up with something better for LHB's than his cutter. His CH stinks.

Great, balanced look at the situation. Love the idea of Hunter as a closer. Closer doesn't have to be your best reliever. Hunter is good and capable of doing well.
KROD? Isn't he too slow to the plate for Buck's taste?

@danconnollysun Hunter, 27, was 6-5 with a 2.81 ERA in 68 games for Os. Salary goes from $1.82M to $3M. Could be club's closer in 2014.

In whatever capacity he's being used in going forward, the O's have to get him pitching effectively. Was a major part of the pen last year, and they have to get some contribution out of him.

@NorfolkTides The Orioles have reinstated RHP Tommy Hunter from the 15-day disabled list and optioned RHP Evan Meek to Norfolk.

So, did Wallace/Dom fix him? Or did they just tell him a couple important things that he acted on?
Whatever it was, you could tell just by watching ballgames without even looking at numbers....

Tommy Hunter will be a part of the MLB All-Star team playing against Japan's National Team in next week's Japan All-Star Series.
Interesting.

I wonder if we are better off trying to trade him or if we just non-tender him and see if we can resign him for a reasonable deal. I wouldn't mind going multi-years with Tommy, but I think he's a $2-3M reliever, not a $4-5M guy like he'd be paid in arbitration this year.
A little more than Webb got last year would be fine with me.

We should trade him. He gets paid as a FA...no way he's coming back to Baltimore for 3M.
He seems most comfortable in a set-up role and someone like the Dodgers would pay him for multiple years.
