Because it's Cle and they are almost assuredly moving up to get a QB. One they will consider a franchise QB, sO don't see the RAvens being interested in trading with them.

They'll reach out to the Cowboys or Jets before us anyway. Best case scenario is Hou, Jack, Oak, even Minn want back into the first and dangle their '15 first round pick.

That said, that seems less likely as well. Next year's QB class is supposed to be stronger. If I'm one of those teams I'm waiting til at least late in the first round to move up. That way I don't have to give up the future 1st rounder. If no QB falls , I wait til next year.

Realistically, it is seeming more and more likely only 1 QB goes in the top 10 this year.

If Cle is trading up for a QB the Ravens deem to be a franchise QB, then they MAY not do that trade.

If it's for a guy they don't think is that good, I don't see why they wouldn't take those picks.

I haven't seen an evidence that any of the QBs in this years draft are sure fire franchise QBs. If Cleveland wants our spot for the bounty above I'm rolling out the red carpet.

Again, you look at it from Cle perspective too. You know the Ravens draft well. Its your divisional opponent. Give the "haul" to Dal or the Jets instead.

I just don't see either teams wanting to trade with each other.

You assume those teams want to move down.

Exactly ....Jerry Jones couldn't wait for his pick last year to draft a Center that had a 3rd round draft grade. I'm guessing old Jerry already knows who he wants.

And the Jets needs a CB or two real bad as I recall. I doubt they are trading back as the best possible CBs can only help right now.

From ESPN insider about the Jets

7. Cornering the market: If the Jets don't pick a cornerback in the first round, I wouldn't be surprised if they explore the possibility of acquiring a veteran, perhaps in a trade. There has been speculation about the Dallas Cowboys trying to deal the disappointing Morris Claiborne, the sixth overall pick in 2012, but they'd take a major cap hit. Right now, his cap charge is $4.4 million, but it would explode to $9.6 million if they trade him, counting the bonus acceleration. The Cowboys would have to receive an offer they can't refuse to absorb that kind of hit.

Rumors have the Cowboys having Barr fall to them. I doubt they'd pass on him.

I'm not saying it isn't possible we trade with Cle. I'm saying it's less likely than with other teams who would be in the same position because we are division rivals

I do agree with this.

But we are arguably the #1 team primed to trade down, especially in that area of the draft...teams know that.

I would trade back 90% of the time in this draft if the deal lands even a 3rd round pick, to get a 2nd would be ideal.

Only a couple players at 17 that I would feel really bad at passing over would be Clinton-Dix or Beckham. If they are both gone I would move back in a heartbeat.

So ideally I would draft

17) HHCD/ODB

48) Stephon Tuitt/ Jawuan James / Kouandjio

or

30) Latimer / Ward / Moses / Fuller / Hageman

48) Van Noy / Matthews / James / Lawrence

60) Brooks / Niklas / Landry / Easley / CB X

I honestly don't think there are that many players at 17 who will graded considerably higher than those that will be there at 30. Grabbing an ILB at 30 like Mosley or Shazier would make a lot more sense too.

I just don't see Ward going that early. I think mid 2nd to mid 3rd. Is the right area. I know the a won't reach. I like the Cleveland deal if you can get it done with a late pick (6th) going back the other way. We'd still get player in the 1st and the trade up to get Ward around 10-12th in the round. That can probably get done for our last trade able 3rd.

Mark Dominik of ESPN insider suggested this deal.
Would you do it?
San Francisco 49ers trade the No. 30 and No. 56 picks to the Baltimore Ravens for the No. 17 pick
The Niners are in prime position to trade up in the 2014 draft. They already have a very physical football team on both offense and defense, but the area they might be looking to upgrade is a vertical threat at wide receiver who can also be an impact return man on special teams. The offense has an athletic quarterback in Colin Kaepernick and tight end in Vernon Davis, a tough runner in Frank Gore and bigger-bodied receivers such as Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree, and adding a legit vertical threat would create 16 regular-season headaches for opposing defensive coordinators.
They aren't likely to find that guy with the 30th pick, but there should be some appealing options at No. 17. A guy like Oregon State's Brandin Cooks or LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. would transform a very good offense into an explosive one.
For the Ravens, this would give them the opportunity to add a second-round pick in a really deep draft, and they can still get a very good player with the 30th overall pick. General manager Ozzie Newsome has done a great job at finding value outside of the top few picks in the draft -- Ray Lewis, Todd Heap, Ed Reed and Jimmy Smith are some notable examples -- which is another reason for them to feel good about moving back in this scenario.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley's take:

http://espn.go.com/b...ense-for-ravens

"If the Ravens make that deal, they would have three of the first 56 picks in the draft as well as five in the top 100. Eric DeCosta, the Ravens' assistant general manager, loves to say that they're in the "picks business."

Yup, Ward is going in the Top 40 for sure.

1st round is a real possibility.

Interesting way of looking at it, but I disagree with many of the players he has rated where they are.

I don't think there's such a thing as a 'blue-chip' prospect in the NFL draft.  Anyone can bust.  It's an interesting way to look at things though.
