I think that's a whole west coast thing. They do that up here too. Heh, I think that was one of the questions on the quiz I got, so maybe that explains it. Has to be, because nearly everyone out here I meet instantly says I'm from "somewhere on the east coast."

It's funny, as that's common usage in the UK. I think many people would consider UK usages more likely to be common on the US East Coast than the West Coast - certainly not the case here.
