And for no money, they both provide similar value.

Saw him play against the O's in KC this summer, he had a nice multi-hit game and I kept on saying "Who the hell is this guy?" A solid addition to the outfield.

Burnett and a trade for Smoak would be a great offseason, right?
Big ifs there but its doable.

Maybe great isn't the right word but given the budget crap and how little activity we've had so far, that would be pretty solid.

Very true.
And really, by Orioles standards, great may be the right word.
Just sad that we can actually say that.

I think I'd rather have Ackley than Smoak.

Jon is ok I think he likes to dish out subtle insults and cannot take it back. (This with personal experience). I agree with Rob's stance on this one though. I said it then and will now Avery is easily replaceable. I like this trade and I will eat a lot of crow if we do land Burnett and Smoak or similar. I thought this off-season looked bleak still don't like it if we stand pat but there is still upgrades out there to be had. I would like to not give up a pick.

Camden Depot @CamdenDepot 6m
Lough has no options remaining.
Doesn't sound like we'll need to use them on him anyways. Hopes are high. This could be a steal of a trade.

Hopes are high for what?
Nothing against the trade, he's a reasonable 4th OFer, but all we did was avoid dysfunction in one area.

Could we be looking at Morales for DH? I have a feeling we are...

I think you should feel comfortable not feeling that way. Very comfortable.
Nothing about Morales suggests Orioles.

You're probably right. It's just that with Betemit and Valencia gone, I'm not sure who's going to DH. Any ideas?

He's a young guy and is an unknown who has a 2.7 WAR defensively. Who knows what his ceiling is...

I like the trade, hate the idea we seem to be angling to keep a rule 5 guy on the roster all year/
Valencia for Lough is a good trade on our side.

Depends. This same strategy is what is going to provide us with a 2-3 WAR 2B this year on the cheap.

I respect Jon's work too... But it really is absurd that he's still defending that Avery non sense.
It's hard for some people to swallow their pride and admit they are wrong -- truth is we all are at some points.

I'm a Danny Valencia fan, so I don't like to see him go. But he's replaceable. I'm thinking he's the type of player who we would end up releasing in mid-May and regret not trying to get value for him.
