One thing is for sure. If it comes down to Lough vs Urrutia in lf Lough easily gets the nod. At least to start the year.

His walk rate in the minors is around 5-6%.  Love this trade.  Outstanding 4th OFer.

Yeah. It's certainly possible to me that he can be an solid OBP guy in the majors. He only has 400 ML ABs

I think we got it. Since Lough can play CF. I'm thinking Lough and Pearce are 3/4.

I meant an actual ML caliber 3rd outfielder ;)

We have to make up for the closer money somehow.

I assumed our pitching staff would cover that ;)

I like this trade. I wouldn't be very confident Valencia could repeat his 2013 season, though he should be alright against LHP.

Now go after Burnett, Garza, and/or Jiminez.

Choo turned down $140 million from the Yankees. So, he's available.

Lol..just awful.

Seriously, this is a very solid trade. Lough isn't some world beater but he is a decent option for us at no cost...I liked the one thing Valencia could well and that one thing may be better than anything Lough does best...but overall, it appears we got the better player.

You do have to wonder if the defensive metrics love him a little too much based off of a small sample size.

Nothing to see here... just the issue of dealing with 140 characters.

I don't care at all about Camden Depot being part of OH.. it's irrelevant to me. We do appreciate the contributions Jon provided to BSL... do think he puts out strong material.. and we do wish him continued success.

Like me, Rob respects Jon's thoughts and opinions... but Rob will argue his points. More willing to argue with those he respects.

You can disagree with someone, and still respect their opinions. Sometimes tone gets lost on boards, and twitter, etc... and things quickly escalate.

When the O's moved Avery for Morse, some argued that finding a backup OF with the ability to play CF would be difficult. This shows what many others argued - that a replacement for Avery is easily obtainable. Peguero also has MiL experience in CF.

Little surprised that Valencia was moved...   but I had mentioned this as a possibility the other day. Now the O's could potentially keep each of Urrutia, Reimold, and Pearce on the active roster - rotating the 3 of them between DH and LF.

We also got Borbon for free...another replacement for Avery.

I like the trade.

We needed a reasonable 4th OFer that can cover CF and we had several too many RHed LF/DH bats.

Hosmer is smacking a hard .670 OPS (career) versus LHers so there's plenty of opportunity for DV in KC to get quality time.

I'd guess this gives Almanzar the space to make the Orioles roster if he shows them anything.

Still likely need to trade 2 of Reimold, Pearce (FLA or SEA) or Peguero.and add a LHed bat.

Bench:

Clevenger (/Monell)

Weeks

Lough

Almanzar
