Love all the beer talk. I am in close with the Flying Dog Brewery, so I am going to be biased to them right now. They are really customer focused and care what type of feedback they are getting from the everyday drinkers.

Some of the beers I have seen on the thread that I really enjoy are the following:

Southern Tier DIPA
eVo lot 3/6
Flying Dog Pearl Necklace

Just to name a few.

I am a little worried about Heavy Seas and Evolution moving forward though. Loose Cannon just lost their head brewer. Being on the distributor side, I see they are having a lot of stock issues getting the beer out to market, as well as the beers being consistant. I have heard rumblings that they changed the hop schedule on the Loose Cannon one time because they didn't have the right inventory in stock. If that is true, shame on them. One of the reasons Flying Dog is so successful is because they have a huge QA department and the head brewer, Matt Brophy, always is looking for his beers to be consistant. Evolution just lost one of their brewers as he goes to start his own brewery in Vermont. Even though Evolution still has their head brewer, a lot of people in the industry were impressed with Joe Lemnah and his abilty and creativity. Just something to keep an eye on moving forward with both breweries. I am still a big fan of both.

If you guys use twitter and are talking about beer from this state, make sure you use the hashtag #MDBeer

Also, had the Lagunitas Imperial Red last night on tap this time. A huge glass of fresh tasting beer right there. Very impressed.

Damn, I had no idea about all that. Thanks for the information AO.

I went to Burley Oak again this weekend and feel that their quality is going down a bit. They are brewing 14 beers right now and tasted 5 I believe and they all had very similar test. I had a summer seasonal and then had a belgian ale and both tasted very similar. I think they get their hops local which may be it but I wanted a bit more out of it.

Did you share your thoughts with the brewery?

Small Breweries like that often are receptive to feedback like that.

I may be hitting up Alewife after the O's game on Wednesday. Lots of beer to choose from there.

That is a pretty awesome place. I met Greg Koch and Sam Calagione in a 2 week stretch there. Both great guys. Stone had a 40 tap takeover and I was able to try some really rare beers there. They have a great Kobe Beef hot dog and a smoked cheeseburger that might be the best burger in Baltimore.

Have a good time, Jimbo and I go there often.

Very cool. I actually saw Sam at the Stone Brewery and Bistro on my CA trip.

What did you have at the Stone tap takeover?

I can;t remember everything, it was over 2 years ago. I was hanging out with Lee Marren, who is the mid-atlantic salesman for Stone. He was letting me know which ones were rare and hardly make it over to the east coast. We had beer tokens, I think it was for 5oz beers. I had around 10 different beers. I know I had the smoked porter and saison du BUFF. I had quite a few beers that were double dry hopped, those were outstanding. It was an awesome time.

Nice. As you may have seen, I also went to a Stone tap takeover recently and had some rare stuff including a few double dry hopped beers.

Stone may be my favorite brewery. It's right there with Russian River for me.

Negative, it was a bachelor party and he was not there. The house I stayed out was my buddy's Chris whose surfboard shop is in the back, now next door to Burley Oak. He lives with the main brewer underneath Bryan but he was away last weekend so did not talk to him.

I did like the Cherry Poppins though as a summer beer.

Flying Dog El Dorado http://beeradvocate....rofile/68/66891 MY RATING: 85/100
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter http://beeradvocate....ofile/759/27800 MY RATING: 66/100
Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout http://beeradvocate....rofile/759/2354 MY RATING: 82/100
Breckenridge Lucky U IPA http://beeradvocate....ofile/759/50764 MY RATING: 43/100

For fun, figured I'd rate these beers. Overall I wasn't a big fan of the Breckenridge trio I got, but that Oatmeal stout was delicious and has major potential.

Offhand I don't recall, I'll try and remember to ask my friend when I see him this weekend.

Definitely looking forward to their beers. Their dry hopped pale ale is fantastic and their porter is crazy delicious as well!

I had some 21st Amendment Spring Saison today in Philly and thought it was great!

I was just at the Dogfish Head Brew Pub and saw they had a beer brewed with lobster in it, which I thought was interesting, but not likely to be good, so I stuck with the 75 Min on cask.

I also had Goose Island IPA for the first time and was very happy with it.

I'm getting more into Saison's this summer with Dogfish's Saison DuBuff and 21st Amendment's Saison being a couple that I've been very happy with.

Any recommendations?
