Boston College has accepted an invite to the Independence Bowl.  This all but confirms that Maryland will be in the Military Bowl.

There really was never any doubt from the moment CJ Brown scored the overtime TD in Blacksburg.

I'll be glad to never ask about MD's chances at going to the Military Bowl ever again. Couldn't care less which garbage bowl game they go to.

The ACC could always run out of teams and the Big 10 might not have enough?

If they would have beaten BC too, they very likely could have ended up in the Independence Bowl.  Representatives were at the Syracuse and BC games, they were very interested.

Do you think MD would've benefited more from going to Shreveport or should they be happier staying home?

Happy to be staying close to home, especially with this being their final game in the ACC. Having this game in their back yard will be great for their fan support at the game.  Only way it wouldn't be better is if there is a significant difference in the financial benefits between the two game, which I can't believe there really is one.

I do wonder how much fan support they'll actually get in Annapolis? Better facility than RFK, but no public transportation and I think the main bases are DC/Baltimore. Not that Annapolis is that far away. One thing they had going for them was Fridge's final game the last time around. I don't think the final ACC game has that much appeal personally.

The conference pools the bowl payouts and splits them evenly, so that doesn't matter much. In fact, with the ACC being assholes and withholding money from UM, it really doesn't matter. Which is another plus for UM in the Military Bowl....a strapped Athletic Department should be able to save some money on this game.

It certainly didn't make a difference in their final home ACC game.  More alumni might try to make it to the bowl game though.   Just trying to keep positive thoughts.

Yeah I agree with this outside of a relevant bowl game or a warm weather destination, this is best for fans who probably wouldn't have traveled anyways.

I'm in the process of getting my work schedule straightened out so I can get down to Annapolis for this game. Looking forward to it.

Game means more to Marshall than MD. Plus I think they're a better team. I'd bet Marshall...

Better team? Based on what? They literally played no one, and still lost 4 games. It would be a big upset to lose to them.
