I did hear any interesting argument against this being a deliberate act by Tomlin; he would have to assume/hope that he wouldn't be flagged for his actions. The distinct possibility of Jacoby Jones being awarded a TD existed, so what benefit was there for Tomlin to interfere?
If you believe Jones is gone for a TD anyway, what do you have to lose?
Again, I thought it was an interesting point. I don't agree with it though.
I have to reiterate that the real crime here is the officiating crew and that side judge in particular, completely missing it or ignoring it. Especially in the wake of the incident during the Jets game (on the exact same sideline) AND the league sent a memo out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to stress the point about sideline conduct.
If the official does the right thing and throws a flag, this goes away on Thursday night.
