Just as good as The Wire.
Couple nit picks. Even in 2005 and even if the crabs are small, and even if the market gives you a first responder discount, a bushel of crabs isn’t gonna be just $46.
The other, is Bernthal overdoing the Baltimore accent? Feel like Charles has it right as for most people the accent is subtle. Bernthal is dialing it to 12 the way SVP does to crack up Tim Kurkjian. That said, give me all the Bernthal stuff, make episodes longer to fit more Bernthal in. He commands this show like no one else.
If you follow the news you know how it ends for these guys. I listed to a Ringer podcast after the first episode. I don’t think they know it’s a true story they way they talk about “characters” and comparing to The Wire. McNulty might have been loosely based on a dozen detectives put together whereas Jenkins, Hersel, Suiter, those guys are playing out those real life guys stories. I wonder if the rest of the world thinks this is a Wire reboot so to speak.
