Posananski is doing a HOF chat right now: http://hardballtalk....f-fame/#respond
He answered a couple of my questions:
Comment From Michael WeberShould the writer who voted only for Morris (with the odd logic of him being the only deserving candidate that did not play in the steroid era) have his vote taken away?I'm not much for taking votes away but, honestly, I think the whole process should be reconsidered.Comment From Michael WeberAre most voters really not aware of steroid use before the "steroid era" or are they just willing to look the other way? And why are greenies ignored? Because then they'd have to be outraged by childhood favorites like Mays, Hank, etc?I'll admit this frustrates me some. I really don't like the way everyone just drew a line in 1994 like that's when everything began. It's nonsense. I can't know, obviously, but it would not surprise me if there are multiple players in the Hall of Fame right now who at least tried steroids.
I thought that was you!
He answered a couple of mine, too.
If Jane Forbes Clark called you Thursday morning and said, "I would like to ask you to head a committee with the power to reform the Hall of Fame voting process," what would you like that process to look like when you finished?I can think of 10 people I'd like to get together to work it through. I think inclusion is the big thing that's missing. I think baseball fans feel frustrated that this process is just going on and they really don't have any say in it.
Comment From DJ McIf you could add one player not currently on the Hall of Fame ballot to the Hall, who would it be?Hmm. Well, for personal reasons It would be Buck O'Neil. But I've been thinking more and more that Lou Whitaker is the best player to get no Hall of Fame consideration.
