Agreed. You can make a case for abolishing divisions in just about every sport, but the NBA makes the most sense. I could easily name you all NFL/MLB divisions and their teams, but I doubt I'd get them all correct in the NBA. And that's not for lack of following the league: they really carry no importance. I thought his point regarding some of the better rivalries that currently exist are between teams that are not in the same division. They're pretty pointless.

I don't follow the nba unless I am watching Sportcenter or during May/June for playoffs, but I had no idea they even had divisions (with seeding implications) until a few seasons ago.
