The rout is finally on. Better late than never, I suppose. This team has a ton to work on.

There was a time when even games against teams like this sold out, and made for a great atmosphere (intimidating atmosphere)... having nobody there makes it easier to play....
I went to almost every single game during the championship season and the first year at Comcast.
I don't remember this being the case AT ALL.

Maybe hyperbole coupled with 'misremembering' but from the time of Smith and Booth's Freshman year through around that period you describe; that was definitely my recollection / impression.
If not 'full' still a larger atmosphere, in the games prior to the holiday break and before the beginning of ACC play.
Now you have ACC games where Comcast is not completely full, or the crowd is at-least late arriving.
Ahh well, guess I feel better with you remembering different. Thought it was a disappointing crowd for the home opener, no matter how poor/nameless the opponent was.
Let's see if it is better Sunday night vs. Oregon State. Should be.

I agree that the crowds were bigger than you describe tonight. And they may have been technically sold out, but a lot of those people came disguised as empty seats
I'm trying to find attendance numbers for Maryland games now...

OK...Maryland has attendance listed in the old box scores on the athletics site.
In 2001-02, here are the first three games the Terps played at home (non-exhibition):
vs. American - 13485
vs. Delaware State - 13146
vs. Illinois - 14500
So those first two are good, particularly for those opponents. I threw in the third game, ACC-Big Ten Challenge against the #2 team in the country, to show a great game (which was full).
Now, here's the problem; here are two games from over winter break:
vs. William and Mary (12/27) - 14500
vs. Monmouth (1/3) - 13201
I don't believe those numbers for a SECOND

It's the trickle down effect I believe, when you had to join the Terp club for ACC tickets, it left out Joe fan. Now Joe fan can get tickets to just about any game this year (Duke/UNC aren't on the schedule) so not as incentive to spend $30-35 on a cupcake game like this one. It's been like this for a while, so it doesn't really faze me anymore.
Think we'll hear from SVP tomorrow?

Nah, that would surprise me.

I don't either, think it will be an ACC game where he goes on a rant. I think he realizes to pick and choose here.

I was at that William and Mary game. I don't think it was sold out but it was definitely surprisingly full.OK...Maryland has attendance listed in the old box scores on the athletics site.
