The Banner had something basically seeing the same thing, and asking the same question.

One of the former plans had a walking bridge.  Ultimately seems like that would make more sense.

 

Problem with a walking bridge is you need something with a high enough clearance that large boats and/or visiting tall ships can get under which means lots of steps to climb. Or a drawbridge type of thing. I haven't lived there in over 16 years so maybe things have changed, but gondola or bridge, trying to build a permanent structure so people can get from Pier Six to the Scupper quicker than a water taxi seems like a solution in search of a problem.

The harbor now regularly meets the swimmable safety standard on dry days, so that's some nice progress.

The plans look cool, but the devil is in the details as far as what establishments are there. A bunch of national chain and/or Atlas spots would suck for instance, but decent chance that's what happens even though they are talking a good game right now in this regard.

A couple issues:
The residential towers look pretty cool, but will they actually fill up with residents? Btw, this is also related to what I wrote above, if you make the harbor a legit cool spot instead of our little version of Times Square, people would be more inclined to live there.

I think the sail building looks really cool and seems very functional (again, the devil is in the details), but I question the directional orientation of it. Shouldn't the part that people are looking out from face the water?
