Oladipo will be a restricted free agent after this season.

 

So, potentially Orlando wouldn't have been able to keep him (or maybe would have decided they didn't want to pay him)...

 

But they get back an older Ibaka who is trending downward, and is FA after the year...  

 

What am I missing from their perspective?

Maybe they don't love Oladipo? Maybe that want to give Hezonya more playing time? Also, I'd say that Ibaka is better than what he's shown recently as his role has been marginalized. All that said, it's still an odd trade.

Its what Vogel wants probably.  He values that versatile big?

 

I don't know.  It is an odd move.
