He's saying that just because a restaurant is in a city, doesn't mean you can use the items on its menu to represent said city.

 

Normally, the point would be valid, but like I explained above, Vegas is different.

No, but the point of the article was the "cultural" foods of the area.

 

Well, the "culture" of Nevada is Vegas -- the lights, gambling, shows, booze, food, etc.  So I'd have no problem if the "food" was simply a 3 course meal from a 5 star restaurant.

Philly is a great town.  As an East Coaster we are very fortunate to be within driving distance of all these major cities, from Boston all the way south to Charlotte and, really, Atlanta.

 

Never thought about that if you lived in Denver, you might only get 1-2 chances in your lifetime to visit those places, whereas I've been to NYC at least 100 times in my life.

Chicago deep dish pizza? Really? It's freaking pizza to begin with, which can be as good or as bad as you want it to be regardless of where you live. And I'll take NY style over that butter soaked bread with tomato sauce on top of it any day.

I have no complaints with crab cakes at #4 but that list is all sorts of messed up.

Agree with Ohio chili though. That shit is the worst.

Like anything else, doing it by state is subjective, I would've (in my biased opinion) had MD higher than 18. After all this, I prefer ranking food by cities instead of states.

Even though Smith Island cakes aren’t commonly made in the rest of Maryland, they became the official state dessert in 2008—a testament to Smith Island’s PR power (and to the paucity of other Maryland dessert specialties).
