I doubt he's talking about chains.

I doubt that was my point ;)

Well I have no idea what it was then.

Well I have no idea what it was then.

He's saying that just because a restaurant is in a city, doesn't mean you can use the items on its menu to represent said city.

Normally, the point would be valid, but like I explained above, Vegas is different.

Haha, what a slogan!

Alright, well I don't think using a national chain was a good way to make that point, but fair enough.

Well you can take your grievance up with him

And Nevada really doesn't have a food associated with it as much as some of those foods are with the states he paired them with? Some of those seem to be pretty big reaches.<br />

Also, Philadelphia is a great city and the roast pork is superior to the cheesesteak.

No, but the point of the article was the "cultural" foods of the area.

Well, the "culture" of Nevada is Vegas -- the lights, gambling, shows, booze, food, etc.  So I'd have no problem if the "food" was simply a 3 course meal from a 5 star restaurant.

Ok, I see.

It was the first thing I thought of. Would you rather I said Amici's and chicken parmigiana? :P

I've heard that. Alas, I've never spent more than a couple of hours in Philadelphia, and most of those times were at the train station anyway.

Well get on that man. Especially since you're so into history! I'll meet you for a roast pork sandwich if that's any incentive at all. Tremendous craft beer city too, but I'm not sure if that's your thing.

Philly is a great town.  As an East Coaster we are very fortunate to be within driving distance of all these major cities, from Boston all the way south to Charlotte and, really, Atlanta.

Never thought about that if you lived in Denver, you might only get 1-2 chances in your lifetime to visit those places, whereas I've been to NYC at least 100 times in my life.

Chicago deep dish pizza? Really? It's freaking pizza to begin with, which can be as good or as bad as you want it to be regardless of where you live. And I'll take NY style over that butter soaked bread with tomato sauce on top of it any day.

I have no complaints with crab cakes at #4 but that list is all sorts of messed up.

Agree with Ohio chili though. That shit is the worst.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Anyone that thinks Chicago pizza is better than NY pizza is wholly un-American and I won't listen to anyone tell me otherwise.

Didn't even mention Maryland Pit Beef or some of the great local brews like FD.

Like anything else, doing it by state is subjective, I would've (in my biased opinion) had MD higher than 18. After all this, I prefer ranking food by cities instead of states.

Thrillist: EVERY STATE IN THE USA, RANKED BY ITS FOOD/DRINK

The best part of that? The donuts link as part of Oregon that led to this:

There are donuts other than Voodoo in Portland. These are the 5 best.

Thanks to hipster sugar shack Voodoo Doughnut's exposure on various food channels, the place now features an endless array of tourists so captivated w/ the idea of Cocoa Puffs on a donut that they don't realize they waited 30min the rain for something pretty basic. So, skip the lines and try one of Portland's actual five best donuts, which come regular, full of booze, meaty, and with absolutely no Cocoa Puffs.

Hahahahahaha. Zing.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

Slate.comThe United Sweets of America

Maryland
Smith Island cake
Smith Island is a tiny community of a few hundred people on the Chesapeake Bay. When they’re not catching soft-shell crabs, Smith Islanders spend their time making absurdly exacting cakes of six to 12 layers interspersed with chocolate icing. The Smith Island Baking Company, the only bakery on Smith Island, has proclaimed itself “the #1 Dessert Company in the World,” and assuming they’re judging on a scale of arduousness, I have to agree. Even though Smith Island cakes aren’t commonly made in the rest of Maryland, they became the official state dessert in 2008—a testament to Smith Island’s PR power (and to the paucity of other Maryland dessert specialties).
