Kellon Hassenstab: “I haven’t heard or seen anything to convince me that anyone other than Kentucky will land the twins. I think it would take something drastic happening to the Kentucky program for the Harrisons to head elsewhere.”
Baltimore Sports and Life: “DeMatha’s 6’8 250lb Center BeeJay Anya is another highly ranked National player in the Class of ’13. Do you see the Terps as a viable contender for Anya, or do you think the incoming bigs will prevent MD being a serious contender for him?”
Kellon Hassenstab: “I interviewed Anya in the Fall, and he provided a list of more than a dozen college programs that he is considering. I took that to mean that Anya is still in the beginning stages of his recruitment, and is open to hearing from many schools. Still, I’m not sure how Maryland would cope with three players having virtually the same skillsets and positions if Anya was added to Cleare and Mitchell. You’d have to think Anya would be thinking about how he would fit in to a roster with two players ahead of him that have similar games.”

I'd love to have the twins for a lot of reasons but if Jordan wants to commit tomorrow I would take him even if it meant the Harrisons would eliminate us. A lot of people would wait on the twins and I understand that thinking but Jordan is really good at a position we badly need (PG). I wouldn't be able to turn that away with the hopes that the Harrison's pick us over Kentucky.
I totally agree with this thinking. You take the strong player that wants to commit, over hoping to land a super elite player later.

The talent to look at right now is Rysheed Jordon. Depending on what site you read, Maryland seems to have a great shot to land him and he spoke very highly of Maryland. The best part is, the schools he listed are very beatable in the recruiting trails. Chances are he wouldnt turn down Maryland to play for Drexel, Temple, Lasalle and schools like that. The main school we would have to beat out is Villanova, which doesnt scare me anymore.
Also look for Tyler ennis and Rashawn Powell. Chances are that Maryland is not heavily focused on recruiting big men anymore and will target these guards heavily.

Jordan is a big Philly guy and went to just about every Temple home game this year.
Now that doesn't necessarily mean much, but Temple is absolutely a player in his recruitment.

That is absolutely a great point. The biggest thing about these recruits is we don't ever know what they are truly thinking. He did attent Temple games but i am not completely convinced he would pass up an oppurtunity to play big time at Maryland and be apart of something that seems to be special for the future. That is why i named some of the others to look out for.
You make a great point though.

On another note, i do believe this signals the end to the recruitment of Cassell Jr. They want some scholarships for 2013 and there isn't a pressing need anymore for him.
Thoughts?
With Smotrycz, the Terps in '13-'14 currently look like:
Guards: Stoglin (Sr), Howard (Sr), Allen (Soph)
Wings: Faust (Jr), Layman (Soph)
Bigs: Pankey (Jr), Len (Jr), Cleare (Soph), Dodd (Soph), Mitchell (Soph), Smotrycz (Junior)
There would be two spots open (1 if Cassell, Jr were to join the Terps).
If the Harrisons' want to join, another spot will become available (likely Pankey or Dodd asked to step-away), or maybe Len or Stoglin has gone pro.

Isn't Temple joining the Big East, or is that just for football? If it includes basketball, he can get his big time there too, so I don't think that's necessarily a selling point for Maryland. And Temple is a program as much on the rise as Maryland could be, so being a part of something special is also a wash, especially if he prefers to be part of something special happening in his hometown.

I don't follow the Terps too much, but when I did watch games, especially against Duke, I noticed that the other teams were shooting a lot more three pointers than Maryland was. Of the people they are recruiting, are there any of them that are capable of shooting threes during the game?
Yes!!! Layman, and Cassell Jr. are great 3-point shooters and Smo is a good 3-point shooter.
