Bo Ryan looks even worse now.

As long as Randy Edsall still inexplicably collects a paycheck, Ryan will at least have company.

UNC hires Hubert Davis as an asst coach.

I don't know if he will make a good coach or not but I have always liked his analysis on ESPN.

Yeah, I'm sincerely hoping that he'll have some advice for Hairston to get him back on track from long range.

I'm wondering whether ESPN brings in another Tar Heel to give counterpoint to the two dookies, Jay Bilas and Jay Williams. Eric Montross has been an excellent broadcaster for the Tar Heel Network the past few years, and Kenny Smith was excellent when teamed with Barkley on TNT.

Hubert Davis holds the UNC record for career 3-pt.% at .435.

Here's some excellent trivia:

1. Hubert Davis averaged 21.4 PPG as a senior for UNC. In so doing, he became one of only four players to ever average 20 PPG in a season under Dean Smith. Can you name the other 3?

2. In his junior year, Davis hit 64-of-131 3-point attempts (.489), the second best single season percentage in UNC history. Who is the only person to hit higher (66-for-133 = .496)?

Kenny Smith is still doing the NBA for TNT...doubt he leaves.

I don't think ESPN really cares about having someone on their network that went to UNC.

I don't think it really matters so much as long as they don't put Jay Williams on GameDay which I don't think they will so they don't have two Dukies on the set. Maybe they'll try to get Bobby Knight to be a regular on the show. It's funny how he credited, but rarely appears, usually only when Dickie V isn't doing the game. They had a 3-man set with just Digger/Bilas the first year of the program, they could do that.

I don't think Hubert Davis took this job to be a career assistant, he probably see this as the start to being a head coach. You don't just leave a plum assignment as one of the top analysts at ESPN to be an assistant.

Regarded as the best "immediately eligible" player available still, Mark Lyons has decided to join the Arizona Wildcats for the season.

Sean Miller, head coach at Arizona, recruited Lyons and brought him to Xavier 5 years ago when he was the head coach there.

Remember that Noel was originally a member of the class of 2013. That, along with switching schools, always sends the NCAA officials sniffing around.

Duke finally gets good news this offseason..lands Jefferson.

He seems to be a little overrated but also seems like a solid player to add. Gives they more size, intelligence and athleticism.

Only a dook does landing a 6'7" small forward count as adding size.

They needed a perimeter defender with some size.

Followed him a bit since MD was in on him for awhile. I think it is nice pickup for Duke, don't think he is overrated. Do think his lack of desire to battle inside is a bit of an issue. Strong athleticism, sounds bouncy, capable of getting off the floor multiple times.

On the transfer rules, blame the system not the coach. All coaches do it until they are called out by the media than reluctantly give in.

Maybe the thread title should say which sport you're talking about... (just a thought...)

That's a big add for dook. Of course, he won't contribute this year, when they could really use him most. But it's as good as adding a top-20 recruit for next year.

Then again, he's basically the same style player as everyone else dook gets these days. He won't help them break the mold. And until they do that, they are predictable and exploitable. I don't fear them anywhere near as much as I once did.
