There was that time they got Earl Monroe from the (Baltimore) Bullets. And then there was.....um.....ahhhh......

Woj tweets they are closing in on a 4-year extension with RJ Barrett that would be worth up to $120M. If that happens, it probably ends their pursuit of Donovan Mitchell.
It would also be the first time the Knicks have signed a draft pick to a post-rookie multi-year contract since Charlie Ward in 1999.

I remember that trade, I was a kid who spent a lot of time at the Civic center watching the Bullets. The Knicks got the Pearl and the Bullets got Mike Riordan and Dave Stallworth. Earl helped the Knicks win a couple of Titles and the Bullets got 2 players the Knicks were happy to trade. Give a foul Mike became a good player for the Bullets averaging in double figures for 4 or 5 years.

Interesting move by the Knicks to sign Donte DiVicenzo to join Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. Now all they need is to talk Jay Wright out of retirement to come coach them

ESPN sources (and I’m guessing that doesn’t mean Stephen A Smith) are reporting the Knicks have agreed to a 5-year/$212.5M extension with OG Anunoby. In the wake of the Mikal Bridges trade last night, this ought to put the Knicks well into the 2nd tax apron. That almost certainly means they won’t be resigning Isaiah Hartenstein and will need to find themselves a backup C with the 24th and/or 25th pick tonight. Should be several available though (Filipowski, Ware, Missi….would think at least one will still be on the board)
