From the Terps basketball FB page, quite the picture. (not the best quality)

Now that UM has made amends with Lefty, can they honor Bias too by putting his jersey in the rafters with the others, where it belongs? Then maybe we can finally get past the tragedy and move forward with the program's past and present united? I mean, it's been damn near 30 years now.

Isn't he up there?

EDIT: He certainly is...

Heh....could have sworn I read Markus say in The Sun this week that he wasn't. Maybe I was misunderstanding. Still, I think to this day the ghost of Lenny Bias still haunts College Park.

EDIT: Yeah, I was wrong....Markus wanted Adrian Branch's jersey up there. And I agree.

Nearly 45 years of Maryland coaching history, right there.

Oh, and that's just 42 years of UM coaching history. As much as we'd all like to forget, there was the Bob Wade era. Don't think he'll be getting an invite to Maryland Madness anytime soon.

As much as i love Turge and would have loved Lefty (I'm "only" 31), it's important to remember that Gary is not either of their equals, despite what that picture indicates.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

As crazy as some of these schools go with Midnight Madness, it's pretty awesome that Lefty had the vision to start this tradition.

Trust me, I didn't forget. There's a reason I said "almost ;)

Honestly I wonder:

1) If he's ever been invited?

2) What the reaction would be if he were, and showed up?

1) Zero chance. That bridge was burnt and the ashes tossed in the Chesapeake to never be seen again. UM's decision to reconnect with Lefty probably even makes the chance less than zero....Wade billed himself as the anti-Lefty when he got the job (Wade was no fan of the left-handed one).

2) Imagine Peter Angelos showing up for the statue unveilings during 2012....one of those things you just don't want to happen during a celebratory occasion.

It is very rare when an administration and fanbase will welcome back a coach who left a program to deal with the sort of sanctions that Wade did. That coach would have to have been really successful and be much beloved before it happened, and Wade obviously was neither.
