The Recruit Scoop: http://www.therecrui...out-of-maryland

Mychal Parker pens his own article about why he is leaving MD. Parker comes across extremely well, and mature here.

I had high hopes for Parker, and am disappointed that he will not be around the next two years. I will be rooting for him, wherever he goes.

I recently (http://baltimorespor...ife.com/?p=3984) wrote about Parker, saying:

"We’ve also heard occasional talk about Parker, and Pankey perhaps leaving Maryland. Count me as one that wants both of these players to return as well. For a guy that was a Top 60 National player, Parker’s game was a bit more raw than I anticipated. It is also entirely predicated around his athleticism. After not playing much at all as a Freshman, Parker did some good things this year as a Sophomore. In 18 minutes per game, he had 16 games with at-least 5 points, and 11 games with at-least 4 boards. Perhaps most importantly, he often had some positive minutes with his defense. I still think there is ceiling with his game, and that you could see him make a leap with his production over his last two years of eligibility. Even if that jump never comes, Maryland will need their wings to balance out their undersized guards."

That was an extremely well written article and insight from Parker. It's a shame that it played out this way (as I would have liked to see him continue on at UMD), but it seems it's for the best for Parker. He seems to understand everything that has been talked about with Turgeon and is handling this in a great way.

Best of luck to him.

Fantastic write-up by Parker! That being said, this does not surprise me and I'm glad the Turgeon has another scholarship available to go after more talent that will play well in his system.

Really going to miss Parker's athleticism.

I thought that in about January, he was ahead of Faust and in line to potentially be the starting #3 in Mosley's spot next year. However from about that point on, even though Parker continued to play decently, Faust really stepped forward and took control of that spot. I don't doubt that Parker would be behind Faust, Layman, Allen, and maybe even Cassell (if he ends up here) for time at the #3.

I think he'll have some success wherever he ends up, although he needs to improve his outside shot and slashing abilities. I hope he stays at fairly high level D-I, and from his letter it sounds like he should be able to do that.

Haven't paid as much attention to MD hoops as I used to, but kudos to Parker for taking the high road here.

Anyone heard anything yet as to where he's going?
